Previous Career
Prior to entering the Parliament David had an extensive career in the information technology industry and the public sector. Most recently David served as Senior Advisor to the former Tasmanian Treasurer, Hon Dr. David Crean.
David has also held positions Manager of the Tasmanian Innovation Centre, Tasmanian Member of the Commonwealth-State Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council, General Manager Innovation, Science & Technology (State Development) and National Manager - Standard Operating Environment (Telstra).
After living in Melbourne and working in the Information Technology Industry for some years, David felt the need to return to Hobart to continue his life in the place he loves.
Community & Parliamentary Work
Amongst others, David is Patron of the St. Johns Park Bowls Club, number 1 ticket holder at the North Hobart Cricket Club, Patron of the Moonah Naval Club and Patron of Youth In Information Technology Tasmania.
Amongst others, David is a member of the Working Women's Centre, Moonah Promotions, Glenorchy and Moonah Business Association, Tasmanian Council of Social Services (TasCOSS) and a Director of the Moonah Rotary Club. As part of his Parliamentary duties David serves on the Public Accounts Committee, the Environment, Resources and Development Committee and the Library Committee of Parliament.
Personal
David was born in Hobart is 38 years old and grew up in Moonah and Mt. Nelson. He was educated at Mt. Nelson Primary, Taroona High and Hobart College when it first moved from Letitia Street to the current Mt. Nelson campus.
Following this he completed both a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Graduate Diploma of Business in Professional Management at the University of Tasmania. David is married to Larissa and they have two children Hudson (2 years old) and Matilda (1 month old).
