David Garner

David Garner joined Gavin Anderson & Company in January 2006. David has more than 15 years of public policy experience having worked in the Departments of Treasury and Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as being an Economic Adviser to a Federal Cabinet Minister in the early 1990s and more recently a Trade Adviser to the Federal Opposition.
He has an extensive range of bureaucratic, business and political contacts and an excellent understanding of all facets of the policy development process, particularly the role of Parliament.
David played a key role in developing the Opposition’s approach to the Australia US Free Trade Agreement including managing the political and media strategies associated with the FTA.
Having worked in the Australian Embassy in Seoul, Korea, in the late 1990s and traveled extensively throughout Asia on Government business David also has a broad range of overseas official, business and political contacts to facilitate new business and export opportunities or to expand upon current operations.
David has an Honors Degree in Economics from Monash University. He has completed one Canberra Marathon and is a long suffering Richmond fan.
