Michael Pengilly, a resident of Kangaroo Island farms a property near Emu Bay. Michael is married to Jan; with 3 children, Tim, Sarah and Patrick. He has been Mayor of Kangaroo Island for nearly 3 years. Michael was Chairman of the SA Country Fire Service Board from 1995 to 2000. Following his pre-selection as candidate for Finniss, Michael has stepped down as Chair, Hills Mallee and Southern Regional Health Service Board after 8 years. Community involvement and a strong belief in the principles of liberalism have brought Michael to his current position and he looks forward to working in the best interests of the people of Finniss and South Australia.

Area: approx. 5 916.9km2
Location: This country district Includes Kangaroo Island and parts of the Fleurieu Peninsula to the south of Adelaide incorporating farmland, popular residential and holiday seaside towns. The 2003 redistribution saw some alteration to the boundaries of this district.
History: Created at the 1991 redistribution of electoral boundaries, the seat was first represented in 1993.
