Jo Scard

Jo Scard has over 15 years experience in political communication, journalism, government relations and public affairs at an international, national and state level.
Specialising in issues management, strategic political communication and political journalism, Jo has advised senior state and federal governments on policy, communication and campaign issues.
Jo has worked on a range of national and international crisis management, corporate, infrastructure, community relations and issues management briefs including Kellogg Australia, Mitsubishi Australia, Pfizer, Woolworths, Delta Gold, Leighton, NRMA, LookSmart and the Property Council of Australia as well as New Zealand and Indonesian based clients.
Jo began her career as an adviser to a NSW state minister. Jo worked as a senior media adviser to the British Labour Party responsible for the London campaign for the party prior to her time as a television producer covering politics for Channel Four and ITN in London and Associated Press’s TV arm, APTN, CNN in Sydney and the Seven Network in the National Parliamentary Press Gallery in the Australian capital, Canberra. She then went on to advise Labor Leader Kim Beazley and the Federal Opposition in the run up to the 1998 election.
While in London, Jo assisted the British Government’s foreign aid efforts in Eastern Europe, working with the British Council on a number of projects to Latvia and Poland, lecturing on media and democracy to politicians and journalists.
Jo was on secondment to Gavin Anderson’s London office for the first 6 months in 2001, where she worked on developing the public affairs practice in London and across Europe. Jo has a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University in Sydney and will complete an LLB from the university by the end of 2004.
