Tasmanian Labor MHA for Denison. Labor Party website before the March 2006 election contained the following biographical notes:

Graeme Sturges, aged 50 years, married to Jill, son Ben 24 years, daughter Amber 21 years, Daisy the Labrador 10 years and Olive the Beagle aged 5 years.

Elected to the Tasmanian Parliament to the seat of Denison 2002. Since my election I have participated as a member on the following Joint Standing Committees:

Community Development; Environment, Planning and Resource; Public Accounts; Subordinate Legislation; Public Works; Government Business Enterprises and Government Corporations.

I have chaired Estimates proceedings for the past three years and in my capacity as Deputy Chair of Committees regularly fulfil the role of Acting Speaker of the House of Assembly.

I have sought to genuinely engage with the community of Denison and have been active in my involvement and assistance with groups like:

Local Sporting Clubs; Local Pensioners Union; Animal Welfare Organisations; Community Groups; School Communities.

In order that I be readily accessible to provide advice and assistance, I established the first full time shop front Electorate Office in the Denison Electorate.

It is a priority for me and my office to give caring and quality attention to local groups and individuals seeking assistance.
