As head of the Business Coalition for Tax Reform - a joint venture of the Business Council of Australia and the Australian Chamber of Commerce - he successfully lobbied for the company tax rate to drop to 30%.

Appointed by Treasurer Peter Costello in February 2006 to prepare a report comparing the Australian tax system with other tax systems in the OECD.
