Animal liberation is becoming a lively political issue in the developed world with celebrities aplenty joining in the clamour for humans to treat animals in a kinder way. In Australia recently we had Pamela Anderson of Baywatch fame complaining about the mulesing of merino sheep. Ms Anderson has been joined this week by Bridget Bardot to lobby the Canadian Prime Minister to put an end to the annual culling of baby seals around Newfoundland .
