Another NSW Horror Story

Friday, 9th June, 2006

The bad news just keeps coming for Morris Iemma. This morning it is a Telegraph story about train drivers spending their days watching DVDs because the Government's new timetable has cut so many services they have nothing to do.

The Tele claims up to 150 drivers go to work every day, only to be told to entertain themselves. “In an extraordinary show of honesty, the drivers have admitted that the work being done by 1438 drivers could be handled by just 958,” the paper reports.

State Treasurer Michael Costa is in the peculiar position of having been Transport Minister when extra drivers were hired and trained to end past driver shortages.
