The Government of West Australia is taking federal-state relations to a new level with the opening of a virtual WA Embassy in Canberra. The Department of Premier and Cabinet advertised on Saturday for "invitations to register interest" in becoming what it describes as "WA Intergovernmental Representatives".

The advertisement says the WA Government is establishing an intergovernmental relations office to oversee its presence in Canberra. "The Canberra office will be responsible for promoting the priorities and interest oif the WA Government with Commonwealth agencies, the media and other relevant stakeholders," the advertisement said. "Key functions include advising State agencies about emerging Commonwealth Government policies, priorities and funding programs as well as liaising on bilateral and CoAG agreements.

Interested individuals with "extensive experience in liaising with Commonwealth Government agencies and influencing outcomes, builkding effective relationships, and excellent communication and collarboration skills" are invited mto contact Mr Michael Mogaw, Chief of Staff, Office of the Treasurer on 08 9222 8788.
