A New Opposition Leader's Slogan

Tuesday, 9th May, 2006

The new Leader of the Victorian Liberal Party Ted Baillieu starts with one advantage: the pundits give him so little hope of victory that things can hardly get worse.

And he did start out on his daunting task yesterday with some well crafted remarks.

Victorians want a state where things get done, not just talked about” has a good ring about it. If he continues as he started out and keeps talking about Victorians enduring longer waiting lists at their hospitals, lower literacy standards at their schools and a slower and slower public transport system, then Mr Baillieu will begin to narrow the gap.
